
Day 1: Moshi- Arusha National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi at 8:30am and drive to Arusha National Park, just 75km from Moshi town. Arusha National Park, at 137km², is one of Tanzania’s smaller national parks but still boasts a wide variety of wildlife along with the still active volcano- Mount Meru. You will do a full day game drive in the national park which will also include taking you to see the Mommela lakes where you will enjoy your picnic lunch, next to the hippos. Following lunch you will explore the rest of the park, including the Ngurdoto crater, before heading back to your campsite in the nearby town of Mto Wa Mbu for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mto Wa Mbu- Lake Eyasi
Rise for breakfast prepared by your chef at the campsite before driving to Lake Eyasi, one of the breeding sites of the flamingo. Here your guide will take you on a walking safari around the lake. Following the walking safari you will head to your camp at Lake Eyasi for dinner prepared by your safari chef. Overnight here.
Day 3: Track the bushmen
Following breakfast at the campsite you will take a walk through the scattered bush to the Bushmen’s home, accompanied by your guide and a local guide that is able to translate the language of the Hadzabe tribe, which the bushmen belong to. The Hadzabe bushmen live in groups divided into approximately 10 families and they are very welcoming to visitors. You will be able to experience their typical bush life including their unique style of hunting for a variety of game meat as well as rodents, insects, roots and leaves. They sleep in caves, without fear of the wild animals that may pass by the in the night. You will have a picnic lunch before walking back to the campsite where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Lake Eyasi-Serengeti
You will start with an early breakfast at your campsite and then leave at 8:30am to drive to Serengeti National Park, eating lunch on the way and viewing wildlife on route. You will stop by Olduvai Gorge- the famous site of the excavations of our human ancestors by Louis Leakey. Here you will be able to see the footsteps of those that walked before us. Once reaching the Serengeti NP you will go on an evening game drive, when many of the animals are waking from their afternoon slumber and becoming active. Following game drive you will return to camp within the National Park for a delicious dinner prepared by your chef and overnight.
Day 5: Full day tour in Serengeti National Park
Breakfast followed by both a morning and afternoon game drive in the park. In the Serengeti you will have a better chance of seeing the majestic cheetah and possibly even a pack of wild dogs. You will have dinner and overnight again at the same campsite.
Day 6: Serengeti National Park- Ngorongoro crater
Wake early for a morning game drive then back to camp for brunch and to pack up your gear. Then you’ll head off to Ngorongoro Crater, viewing wildlife on the way. You will have dinner prepared at your campsite on the crater rim and overnight there (be prepared for the noises of zebras, maybe even elephants, walking through camp at night!)
Day 7: Crater tour- Manyara
Wake up early morning for breakfast at 6am (early starts for the best wildlife viewing) and then descend into the Crater floor for a game drive. Here in this wonderful caldera you may see lions, leopard, buffalo, elephant, black rhino, zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena and more! Your lunch will be served at the picnic site in the crater- Ngoitoktok swamp- you will be able to eat your lunch alongside the hippos in the pool! Following lunch at 1pm you will ascend the crater and drive to Manyara. When you arrive at Mto wa Mbu town (next to the Lake Manyara NP) you can take a short walk around- visiting the shops of the local artisans if you wish. You will have dinner and overnight at a campsite in Mto Wa Mbu.
Day 8: Lake Manyara- Moshi
Following breakfast you will have a full morning game drive in Lake Manyara national Park, famous for its expansive 220km² lake whose shores sometimes may not be seen for the pink carpet of flamingos. You may even get the chance to see Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions- not seen in any other national park! Following lunch you will leave Lake Manyara to return to Moshi (arrive approximately 6pm).
Included: Transport in safari land-cruiser with pop-top roof for wildlife viewing, English- speaking safari guide, safari chef, all park entrance and camping fees (VAT inclusive), all meals and drinking water, all camping equipment so that all you need to bring is your sleeping bag (can arrange hire if necessary).
Not included: Sodas, alcoholic beverages, tipping for staff, changes to government imposed feeds/VAT.
